Remembering that the vine is an unruly creeper, but at the same time that its behavior is in no way due to chance. With time, one fact became clear: progress in viticulture can come only from observation and experiment. You have to know how to watch the vine in order to feel it.

This development is of course part of the process of discovering another world, a different way of seeing. Acquiring a new sensibility involves constant risk-taking, trying things out, and then finding that they are self-evident. It is never a one-size-fits-all strategy, but rather a matter of following the vines according to the identity of each parcel, taking a long-term view. Choices are the fruit not of intuition, but of a fine analysis of the elements of nature. It is painstaking work. Each decision becomes a stepping-stone in the never-ending quest for the ideal Pauillac wine.

The return to nature at Pontet-Canet has involved constant risk-taking, a development underpinned by real faith and deep passion.

What strikes the taster immediately is the energy these wines display, the expression of tension and intensity: they are bright and brilliant, as though freed of any constraint. Their internal balance combines contained power, uncommon precision of fruit and undeniable class. They seduce by their full-bodied fruit, the finesse of their mouthfeel, and their natural elegance, delivering a natural emotion which enhances their seductive charm.

Surface area: 120 hectares, of which 81 under vines
Soil: quaternary gravel
Grape varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon 62%, Cabernet Franc 4%, Merlot 32%, Petit Verdot 2%
The average age of the vines: 40-45 years
Viticulture: certified organic and biodynamic
Plantation density: 9500 vines per hectare
Fertilizer: composted manure (if needed)
Pruning: double Guyot, Médocain style
Harvest: by hand in small crates

Chateau Pontet-Canet (庞特卡奈庄园)
CINGUIEMES CRU CLASSÉ, PAUILLAC
BORDEAUX, FRANCE.

VOLUME / VINAGE
75CL. / 2007 ; 2009 ; 2011 ;
6L    / 2015 ;

[33,70,68
